Rotational Capacity Testing

Galvanized bolts nuts washers | Portland BoltWhich bolts require a rotational capacity test?

The rotational capacity test is designed to evaluate the presence and efficiency of a lubricant on the nut, and the compatibility of the bolt assemblies as represented by the components selected for testing such that, when installed, the desired bolt tension is achieved without excessive plastic deformation.

Rotational capacity testing is performed with the use of a Skidmore-Wilhelm bolt tension measuring device. Galvanized F3125 Grade A325 structural bolts, when sold with a nut and washer, require the supplier to perform rotational capacity testing on the assembly.

Sound Transit L300 Light Rail Project

Lynnwood, Washington

The Sound Transit L300 Lynnwood Link Extension is a $780 million project covering 8.5 miles of track connecting four stations. Upon completion in 2024, riders will enjoy fast, frequent, and reliable service between south Snohomish County and the University of Washington, downtown Seattle, the Eastside, Sea-Tac Airport and more.
Portland Bolt delivered 84,000 pounds of OCS anchor bolt assemblies completely assembled and marked per their drawings. This allowed the contractor to just pick up the finished assemblies and drop them in place.
