Galvanized Anchor Bolt Microsite

Portland Bolt | Galvanized Anchor Bolts
Educational Website Covering Galvanized Anchor Bolts!

Our newest website, www.galvanizedanchorbolts.com is an educational website covering the manufacturing and galvanizing of anchor bolts. Anchor bolts are embedded in concrete and are designed to anchor structural supports to foundations.

Created by our resident galvanized anchor bolt expert Gary Rusynyk, and designed by our web guru Sarah Kemp, this microsite is designed for power and energy contractors, electrical contractors  highway contractors, steel fabricators, engineers, and various other industries seeking technical information regarding galvanized anchor bolts.

This website contains an anchor bolt manufacturing video, specification information, nut and washer compatibility, technical information about the hot-dip galvanizing process, and an FAQ area addressing common questions about anchor bolts and galvanizing. Do you have questions about galvanized anchor bolts, require a quote, or need to procure galvanized anchor bolts for your next project? If so, contact Gary.

IIHS Expansion Project

Ruckersville, Virginia

IIHC Expansion Project | Portland Bolt

In early spring of 2013, ground was broken on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) expansion at its Ruckersville, Virginia campus. Researchers will use the new facility to conduct safety tests on passenger vehicles by performing impact tests and rating the vehicles based off their performance. The project includes a new 5 acre outdoor covered test track, new office space, new conference rooms, and technology upgrades. The outdoor test track is covered by a fabric roof structure which is fastened to high strength anchor rods embedded in concrete pylons.

FAQ: Ask our Expert

Substituting F1554 Grade 55 for F1554 Grade 36 Anchor Bolts

Q:  Can an F1554 Grade 55 anchor bolt be substituted for an F1554 Grade 36 anchor bolt?

A:  Yes.  According to ASTM F1554-07a, when Grade 36 is specified, a weldable Grade 55 material may be furnished at the supplier’s option.

Learn more on this topic and about the dangers in substituting one grade for another.
