The Cider Solar Farm is a massive $1 billion undertaking spanning across Elba and East Oakfield in Genesee County, NY. The project aims to incorporate solar panels while maintaining agricultural land. When completed, the project could be capable of generating over 1 million MWh per year.

Portland Bolt was contacted in June of 2025 for a rush order of custom galvanized headed anchor bolts for the solar farm’s substation. The large, heavy hex head bolts were made from over 1 million pounds of round bar we store in our Portland facility. Our in-house galvanizing also played a key role in turning around the bolts as quickly as possible. Large steel templates were cut on our plasma table, allowing us to control the timeline. The rush order went out without delay, and a second rush order for the next phase of the project was also right on time.

For this fast-paced job, our customer needed a supplier they could rely on, and Portland Bolt rose to the challenge. In 2 months, we supplied 19k pounds of steel. Customers trust Portland Bolt every day with urgent manufacturing needs. For over a century, we’ve known that a customer’s trust is invaluable, and we’d love to show you what we’re capable of.
