Construction on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s new headquarters started in early 2009. The multi building, campus style headquarters is located in downtown Seattle. Through a large NW fabricator, Portland Bolt supplied over 700 small plain steel rods 7/8″ & 1″ diameter up to 20″ long. Portland Bolt also supplied large galvanized tie rods for the job. The tie rods ranged in diameter from 5/8″ to 1¾” up to 28½ feet long and were threaded right hand thread on one end and left hand thread on the other end, with a galvanized clevis on each end. Over 250 of these tie rods were required to complete the job.
