August 2024 Newsletter

A new look for a new era!

You may have noticed some momentum with Portland Bolt in the past few months. Here are some highlights:

  •  We have acquired Southern Anchor Bolt and welcomed them into the family.
  •  We’ve made some important hires to staff up for critical positions.
  •  Our Oregon facility is expanding, and we have some exciting announcements coming soon for that project.
  • Our South Carolina facility is expanding its product offerings. This will allow us to reach 100% of US customers within two business days with an expanded array of products from that facility.

It is an exciting time for our company, and we couldn’t be more optimistic about the future.

All that said, it was time for us to reflect on how we present ourselves and see how we could better serve our customers, the industry, and be the company we strive to be.

Two projects stood out, that could bring about an immediate impact.

Logo Modernization:

As we move into this new chapter of our story, we want our identity to reflect this journey. While it is important to modernize the logo, it is equally important to honor and remember the past 100+ years that have helped us get to this point. The bolt in our logo has become iconic and is recognizable in the industry. We found an opportunity to tighten it up, modernize, simplify, and make the implied letters more impactful.

Portland Bolt Logo

The font itself was one of two finalists from about 15 candidates. Conceptually, some ideas are important to us. They are strength, accuracy, leadership, manufacturing, and industry. Among other attributes, we like how the font we chose has chamfered edges that reflect a hex head bolt and machined parts.

Condensing the wordmark was important. We are known as “Portland Bolt”. The “& Manufacturing Company” was not entirely accurate. Yes, we are an industry-leading manufacturer of anchor bolts and nonstandard construction fasteners. However, we also stock an impressive array of fasteners for distribution that supplements our manufactured offerings.

Website Redesign:

The web is an important gateway to our customers. We are responsible for helping our customers get what they need efficiently. Therefore, a redesign of the website was a critical process. It incorporates an overhaul of the user interface and user experience. The result is a modern and focused way of browsing our website. The updated logo is proudly featured alongside the new color scheme and interface standardization.

Importantly and worth mentioning, this is only the first step in the evolution of the website. It is building a foundation for us to monitor, tailor, and evolve as we better understand what information is important to our visitors. It allows us to more effectively market ourselves and convey the benefits of partnering with us.

We have plans to update video and photography, marketing materials, and a more comprehensive marketing strategy with the website as the backbone.

We hope you enjoy the new website and would love your feedback.
