Naval Station Everett sits on the natural deep water of Possession Sound, roughly 25 miles north of Seattle, and serves as a homeport for U.S. Navy surface combatants. The waterfront infrastructure that berths these vessels takes a constant beating from saltwater, weather, and heavy use, and keeping it mission-ready requires periodic structural repair. The Repair DDG Homeport Piers and Wharf project, a NAVFAC Northwest design-bid-build contract valued between $25 million and $100 million, addresses exactly that, restoring the piers and wharf that support the destroyers stationed at the base. Portland Bolt supplied the domestic fasteners for the repair work.
Because this is a federal military project, every fastener needed to be domestically manufactured and fully traceable. Portland Bolt supplied over 12,000 pounds of hot-dip galvanized hardware, all backed by emailed mill test reports. The order included F1554 Grade 105 all thread rods in two configurations, 1″ x 9″ rods and 3/4″ x 36″ rod assemblies complete with heavy hex nuts and hardened washers. Portland Bolt also manufactured F3125 Grade A325 carriage bolts in 19″ and 28″ lengths with nonstandard 6″ thread lengths, marked with an ‘S’ head stamp to identify the special threading, along with more than 1,700 heavy hex structural bolts, some also featuring nonstandard thread lengths. Matching A563-DH and A194-2H heavy hex nuts and F436 hardened washers rounded out the package, which shipped from our Portland, Oregon facility in August of 2025.
