January 2023 Newsletter
2022 – Year in Review
While the construction industry emerges from COVID lockdowns, labor shortages, and supply chain issues, Portland Bolt continues to thrive. Our ability to manufacture and galvanize nonstandard anchor bolts and construction fasteners allows us to be in complete control over lead times and the quality of the products we supply.
We would like to thank our loyal customers for partnering with us on your 2022 projects. Shipping on your schedule and providing outstanding customer service resulted in a 19% revenue growth in 2022!
To keep up with demand, in the second half of 2022 we hired a variety of employees necessary to continue this growth trajectory. New employees include a Chief Financial Officer, Controller, Accounting Clerk, VP of Human Resources, Business Development Representative, and a Digital Marketing Specialist. In early 2023, we intend to add a Data Analyst to the team. These new employees will be introduced in upcoming newsletters.
2022 also brought about restructuring within our sales department. Experienced Account Managers, Mike Monlux, Anthony Porreco, and Kyle Pettijohn have all been promoted to Sales Management positions where they will not only handle key accounts but will also lead a small group of account managers. This increased training and oversight will expedite the learning curve for our newer salespeople.
In 2022, we continued to build upon what we feel is the most comprehensive construction fastener website in the industry. Our current database consists of a staggering 361 fastener-related questions with detailed answers.
In 2022, our sales team added 4 project summaries to the 389 total projects featured on our website. These featured projects contain a description of the project, its location, a summary of the bolts we manufactured for the project, and photographs from before, during, or after construction.
These projects demonstrate a broad range of industries, locations, and bolts and fasteners used. Are you working on a similar project, need similar bolts, or working in the same region as one of our featured projects? If so, contact us to explore how we might be able to assist you!
Some of our favorite projects from 2022 were:
- Double Arrow Lookout – Missoula, MT
- Port of Houston Turning Basin Terminal – Houston, TX
- Klawock Cruise Terminal – Klawock, AK
In addition to our flagship website, www.portlandbolt.com, Portland Bolt operates 19 specialized websites. Each website has been created and is managed by one of our 13 salespeople. Each salesperson possesses expertise centered around the specialized content these diverse sites contain.
In 2023, we intend to launch at least three new microsites with extensive content related to common ASTM fastener specifications and various types of construction fasteners. We will promote these websites in upcoming newsletters, so stay tuned!
In 2022, Portland Bolt made 9,397 separate shipments of nonstandard anchor bolts and construction fasteners to all corners of the earth. Our interactive Shipment Destination Map will show you them all.
Our strong internet presence and our outstanding reputation have worked together to expand our global reach and allowed us to evolve from a regional supplier into a worldwide manufacturer of anchor bolts and construction fasteners. In 2022, Portland Bolt shipped a total of 79 international orders (excluding Canada) destined for 31 different countries!
2022 provided us with an opportunity to partner with 3,121 unique companies spanning a variety of different industries and covering the entire globe.
1,819 East Coast Shipments
The initial reaction of many prospective customers is that our location in Portland, Oregon must limit our ability to participate in projects in the eastern part of the country. Fortunately, these numbers demonstrate otherwise. In 2022, on 1,819 occasions, East Coast companies chose Portland Bolt to supply fasteners due to a combination of our outstanding service, superb quality, fast delivery, and competitive price. These statistics clearly demonstrate that no project is too far away for Portland Bolt to be considered for the project.
|1,819||Eastern time zone shipments.|
|1,487||Central time zone shipments.|
|873||Mountain time zone shipments.|
|4,933||Pacific time zone shipments.|
In 2022, Portland Bolt shipped to 10 Canadian provinces and territories and averaged shipping almost seven orders per week to Canada. We continue to overcome the challenges of customs clearance and an unfavorable exchange rate, proving to be a viable option on Canadian projects requiring large, nonstandard bolts.
In 2022, Portland Bolt shipped a whopping 6,813,165 pounds of custom anchor bolts and nonstandard construction fasteners to companies worldwide!
