Nichols Farms Solar Project
Hanford, California
Portland Bolt has provided anchor bolts for several large solar projects over the last couple of years. In one of our more recent solar projects, Portland Bolt provided high strength anchor bolts for the Nicholas Farms Concentrator Photovoltaic (CPV) Solar Power Plant in Hanford, California. This plant will produce 2.244 million kilowatt hours in its first year of operation, significantly lowering the operating costs for the adjacent Nichols pistachio farm and Processing plant. By producing roughly 70 percent of their required electricity, Nichols Farms has mitigated the impact of future increasing energy costs and ensured that two generations of the Nichols family will be able to continue to grow, process, package, and market pistachios in a more environmentally friendly way.
Portland Bolt provided nearly 1,000 galvanized high strength anchor rods, all of which required assembly with nuts, washers and template plates.

Made in America!
Does my project require domestically manufactured product?
Portland Bolt has been manufacturing anchor bolts and construction fasteners in Portland, Oregon for 99 years. Our bolts are domestically manufactured and galvanized in our modern, 85,000 square-foot facility. Mill test reports accompany each and every order we provide. Derek Marquez composed the following FAQ that addresses various types of projects that will require domestically manufactured product.
Question: What is a “Domestic Requirement” and how do I know if it applies to my project?
Answer: There are a variety of different types of construction projects that require domestically manufactured (U.S.-made) products, including bolts. There are three main pieces of legislation that mandate “domestic” products.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009
The Buy American Act of 1933
The Buy America Provisions of 1982
