You’re probably thinking to yourself, “Big deal, Portland Bolt ships a few bolts across town and features the project in their newsletter.” However, this particular project was located across the country in Portland, Maine, and we manufactured several thousand hex bolts and threaded rods.

Portland Bolt’s participation in this project demonstrates a few things you may not have known about us:

Portland Bolt ships all over the United States, as well as internationally. Our interactive shipment destination map will give you an idea of our broad geographical reach.

Although the Portland Jetport Expansion project was a U.S. project, the company that purchased the bolts was a Canadian firm. In 2010, we made 195 total shipments into Canada, covering 8 of the 10 Canadian provinces.

Lori Coffman Retires

After a 30+ year affiliation with Portland Bolt, Lori Coffman will retire at the end of May. Lori has been working as Portland Bolt's Accounts Payable Clerk. Her tenure with the company dates back to 1980 when she was the personal secretary for Portland Bolt's previous owner. She is looking forward to spending time traveling with her husband Rob. She also enjoys cooking, family gatherings, and dancing to music from the '70s. We will miss Lori very much, and all of us at Portland Bolt would like to thank her for her years of dedicated service and wish her the best. Lori leaves her accounting responsibilities in the capable hands of Ruth Mason who joined Portland Bolt at the beginning of March. We will introduce you to Ruth in an upcoming newsletter.

March Madness Recap

Who would have guessed that Butler and VCU would be in the Final Four this year, or that only one #1 seed would make it to the Elite Eight? Apparently pool member i am history had some idea. He was the big winner this year, beating out the next closest competitor by 15 points and taking home the grand prize of a $100 Amazon.com gift card and custom engraved trophy.

If you didn't compete this year, or didn't do as well as you would have liked, don't despair; next March's grand prize could be headed to you! Watch for our NFL Survivor Pool coming in September, assuming the 2011-2012 season is played.
